MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Depression Kiko continues to move northward outside the Philippine area of responsibility while the southwest monsoon continues to bring rain, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration. PAGASA said yesterday that Kiko was located 1,100 kilometers east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon with no direct effect on the country although it continues to enhance the southwest monsoon. Cloudy skies with rainshowers and thunderstorms are expected in Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan, Isabela, Zambales, Bataan and Western Visayas. Meanwhile, a possible low-pressure area may develop east of extreme northern Luzon. For the next three days, monsoon rains are expected to persist in Northern and Central Luzon while the Visayas and Mindanao will see generally fair weather with isolated thunderstorms.
